The 8th graders spent a week writing immigration policies, their primary focus was the fate of Syrian refugees and the people currently falling into the DACA parameters. They wrestled with many difficult issues, they wanted to create spaces for people to live and provide them with language classes and employment opportunities. They also had to make hard decisions about who they let in and who they keep out. During their presentations I was impressed with the quality of their questions and how thoughtful they were about the issues surrounding immigration.
