For this project students were tasked with writing a research paper that compared slavery and indentured servitude. They had to decide whether they thought they were forms of immigration or not and defend their decision. They also had to tie the subject of immigration to the United States' long history of separating families. They used the family separations this summer at the U.S./Mexico border as a way of tying our past to our present. This is some of the best writing I have seen from our students.
